Taking time to write down morning notes has been a habit for TzuLi since 2021. Using words to record everyday life, experiences, emotions and feelings, became a way for Tzu Li to sort out her mind and talk to herself.
One day at the beginning of this year, TzuLi came up with the idea of translating these morning notes into small pieces of textiles. Also, she’s attracted to the idea of regularly recording something for a while. She found a series of simple and direct, just day-after-day records, can be so powerful, so intriguing.
Inspired by each day’s deepest thoughts or feelings, TzuLi translated these messages into her textile languages among knitting, weaving, quilting, mending, and many other techniques. Being familiar with playing with colors and textures, TzuLi used left-over, recycled, or vintage yarns and fabrics she collected over times, and manipulated with different techniques to represent her Morning Notes.
